3 steps to create the perfect outdoor living space
Summer is almost upon us – is your garden ready for post-lockdown guests?
Victoria Jackson, our Furniture Buying Director, shares what’s needed to build the ultimate outdoor area.
1) Review your space
Whether you have a cosy balcony or a large back garden, there are ways to work with any space. First, consider what you wish to do in your garden, and what you can effectively fit in it.
Smaller gardens and balconies are ideal for bistro sets, which typically include two chairs and a table. Whereas, if you have a larger space, you may want an outdoor corner sofa or a 4, 6 or 8 chair dining set; if you have ample space and enjoy hosting, why not have both!
Taking the time to visualise your ideal outdoor space and planning what you need to make that happen ensures you stay on the right track and make informed decisions when shopping.
2) Choose your garden furniture
There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to purchasing garden furniture. Aldiss offer an extensive range of outdoor dining sets, bistro sets, and garden sofas, among other outdoor essentials.
One of our most popular collections is the Aruba range. This features bistro sets, 4-seater and 6-seater dining sets, and sofa corner groups with adjustable tables, all in keeping with the same natural style and light grey colour scheme. This can be great if you want to feature more than one item from the range in your garden, like a bistro set and outdoor sofa, as they will match. If you’re eco-conscious, we also offer fully recyclable garden furniture in our Samoa range, produced in partnership with the Eden Project. And our DuraOcean bistro set and Panama chairs are produced using 3kg of recycled sea nets taken from our oceans.
Our garden furniture comes with up to seven years’ warranty and, other than the recyclable options, is made using either PE (Polyethylene Resin) rattan or aluminium, both of which are incredibly long-lasting. Many of our cushions for our outdoor chairs and sofas come with handy, unzippable covers that are machine washable.
The furniture can be left outside all year round without the risk of rust or damage, although a cover is recommended to prevent debris from collecting.
3) Inject personality with garden accessories
To really transform your garden into an outdoor living space, you need to add the finishing touches.
You can choose from our range of pergolas and parasols, including cantilever parasols, which will protect you from the sun on hot days. And, if you haven’t got one already, purchase a BBQ for the ultimate alfresco dining experience. Accessories like outdoor rugs, scatter cushions, and outdoor dining sets can add texture and allow you to experiment with different colours and patterns.
You could string outdoor fairy lights along a wall or fence, surround your space with lanterns, or even place outdoor candles in your garden to create some ambience.
