5 things to consider when buying rise and recline furniture
Whether you need help with mobility problems or you want to enhance your comfort and relaxation, there are a few things to consider before buying rise and recline furniture. After all, it’s an investment in your health and wellbeing, so it’s important to make the right choice.
Our furniture buying director Victoria Jackson shares five things to consider when choosing a lift and tilt chair or adjustable bed.
1. Size
When it comes to specialist mobility furniture, there’s no ‘one size fits all’. With lift and tilt chairs, it’s important to think about the seat height, width and depth to ensure a high level of comfort and support.
The Celebrity lift and tilt chair range, which is one of our best sellers, is available in petite, standard and grand to accommodate for all body types. Likewise, adjustable beds come in a range of sizes to suit different needs, from single to super-king.
2. Space
Rise and recline chairs and adjustable beds tend to be bulkier than standard furniture and take up more room, so it’s worth doing some careful measuring to make sure that you have a permanent space for it (near to an electric socket) at home before you buy.
Don’t forget that for lift and tilt armchairs you’ll need extra space behind the chair when it’s reclined and in front for the footrest.
3. Style
At Aldiss, we stock a wide range of furniture styles for you to choose from. Our tilt and lift chairs are available in fabric or leather upholstery, with waterfall, scallop or button backs, scroll arms or wooden knuckles. We also offer matching sofas and armchairs, which come with powered or manual recliner functions, as well as pet-friendly material.
Our mobility beds are available with divan frames, with built-in storage and a variety of headboard styles.
4. Specialist features
If you have specific health needs, you may want to consider furniture with specialist features. For example, someone who suffers from back problems may want to choose the Celebrity Woburn as it features medical grade foam to provide extra lumbar support while easing aches and pains.
If you suffer from circulation problems or struggle to fall asleep at night, the Tempur adjustable beds come with a built-in massage feature that can aid relaxation and promote healthy blood flow.
Those with arthritis may want to choose a handset with buttons rather than a touchscreen as they are easier to operate.
5. Try before you buy
When investing in furniture that’s going to have an impact on your quality of life, it’s always worth speaking to one of our friendly salespeople who can recommend the best product for your needs. Our stores have a range of chairs and beds for you to find the perfect fit and you can browse a huge selection of fabrics and styles from our swatch book.
